Men often fail to talk about or deal with their health issues. For that and other reasons, every 19 minutes, someone in his forties, fifties or older dies of prostate cancer. Rabbi Ed Weinsberg was different. He suffered because of poor communication with one urologist, but consulted with another. What happened to “by the people, for the people”? The citizenry is over taxed, underemployed and fed up with federal spending. What happens if the stimulus package and bailouts fail, and President Obama calls for more spending? Is this taxation without representation? What should we do about it?

Mike Lieber is calling for a new constitutional convention. He believes that the government created by America’s founders works. But there is wide chasm between our current government and the one the founders outlined in the U.S. Constitution. Those sworn to uphold it now routinely violate it. Lieber’s answer? It’s time to revise the Constitution. Lieber will engage the audience with provocative questions, such as:

• If we rewrite the Constitution, what should be added? Deleted? Revised and clarified? Federal spending limits? Immigration? Social issues like gay marriage?

• Should the Constitution limit spending and borrowing to protect future generations?

• Who should have the power to deploy U.S. troops? Congress? The president?

• George Washington was as popular a president as Barack Obama, but he limited his own power. Is the presidency now a monarchy? Has the federal government become tyrannical?

More than 24 states have introduced sovereignty resolutions under the 10th amendment. Should the powers be rebalanced?

Tomorrow night at the Church we are hosting Dave Ramsey and his Town Hall for Hope. Well we are not actually hosting Dave Ramsey but rather a live stream of the event via the internet. Here is a little bit of information from the Town Hall of Hope website:

Town Hall for Hope is your opportunity to sit down with people in your community for a nationwide town hall meeting led by Dave Ramsey. Thousands of venues across the country will host the event, broadcasting Dave's live presentation. In the opening half hour, Dave will offer straight talk about the economy, recession, foreclosures and more. I feel that as church we need to host events such as this because we are the hope that people need in this economy. As I said in my Easter Sermon only Jesus Christ can being the hope that we need. The government cannot do it for you only Jesus can.

Dave says "The solution to America's economy is to get people to believe again. It's time to connect with families to instill hope and optimism in our economy and our country. We the people are the healing agents."

New Show

On March 30th I will be taking over the morning show on WESO 970 am the same station that runs Father Peter Live. The show will run from 7-9am Monday - Friday.

I need a name for the new show so if you can think of something let me know, leave me a comment here and I will consider it.

I am the host of the show but it will be regular morning drive radio, news, sports, information, all local stuff so let me know what you think.

The show will also stream online.

I have a great line up for today's show and actually just finalized the guest list.

Joining me in the first half hour will be Professor Nicholas Daniloff author of the book, Of Spies and Spokesman. A book about his time at a Cold War Journalist in Soviet Russia. His book is an amazing tale of his time in Russia and how he was arrested for spying.

In the second half hour, Fr. Ken DeVoie of Emmanuel Orthodox Church in Warren, Massachusetts will be joining me to discuss how we can take care of people during this economic time of hardship. Thanks to Fr. Ken for agreeing at the last minute to come on the show.

A very exciting show is on tap for this week. My first in studio guest will be Mr. Sam Yanka, Senior Vice-President for Primerica Financial Services. Sam will talk to us about end of year financial issues and we will take some calls.

Joining me on the phone will be Peter Judge, the Public Information Officer for the Massachusetts Emergency Management office. Peter is going to chat about what the Commonwealth is doing to aid cities and towns after the Ice storm last week.

If there is time in the show my topic will be Suicide. We just had a suicide in the local community the other day and I thought this would be a good time to discuss this sensitive topic.

Exciting Show Today

Well today's show promises to be exciting. Joining me in the studio will be Cindy Howard from the Center of Hope. Cindy will be stopping by to chat about the Southbridge Downtown Partnership's "Shop Southbridge with Santa" taking place on Friday night December 12th in Downtown Southbridge. The merchants have teamed up to stay open late and offer bargains and other specials like choral groups singing and horse drawn carriage rides and other such events. please plan to support our local merchants.

Joining me by phone will be Chaplain (Maj) Paul Minor of the Massachusetts Army National Guard. Chaplain Minor has been deployed overseas on several occasions and will be joining me to chat about what is going on with our troops, what they are involved in and how we can support them away and when they get home.

Okay maybe you read my other Blog, www.frpeterpreble.com or you listen to my radio show www.shepherdofsouls.com and maybe your asking yourself why another blog? Well the answer is simply this. I am going to have my own radio show on WESO 970am on Thursday afternoons from 12-1pm. That's right I will be live on the radio for a one hour, to start with, call in show.

I am going to use this blog for show updates and I hope to be able to live stream the show maybe on youtube or something but more on that as time goes on so for now tune in hear and I will let you know what is going on!
